Three ways to make the best of your quarantine birthday
With the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries are in lockdown, including Canada. As we mentioned in our guide on the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, despite the fact that this period of social distancing is particularly difficult, respecting its standards is essential. This lockdown affects our daily life, whether it’s work, relationships, school, family, outings, etc. There are different methods to deal with this isolation during lockdown, the article “How to cope with being stuck at home” mentions some of them. One aspect of our daily live that this lockdown affects is birthdays. Here are 3 ways to make the most of your birthday, in these special times.
1. Organize a virtual birthday party on Zoom
Do you miss your friends and loved ones? Why not organize a virtual birthday party on Zoom? You could do what you normally would, but remotely. Video calls on zoom can support more than 100 individuals and it is a non-paying application.
Here is a possible example of a birthday party on Zoom:
7 p.m .: card games and board games.
8pm: It’s time for the birthday cake and to open the gifts (your friends can, for example, contribute and have a cake delivered, which in the meantime will support local restaurants and bakeries. Regarding gifts, your friends and relatives can order them online and have them delivered to your address.)
2. Do what you love
It’s your birthday, so it’s time for you to do whatever you want as long as it’s at home! If you love to cook, do it. If you want to organize a “self care” day at home, do it. In short, take the time to do what you enjoy.
3. Dress for the occasion
It’s the perfect opportunity to put on your best clothes! Is it still a little cold outside? It is raining? This time you do not have to dress according to the temperature since you will stay at home. So you can literally wear any outfit.
